I figured that this week I’d write a short blog post to alert you all to the fact that it’s National Drink Wine Day! I know that some of you are serial wine drinkers or at least occasional wine drinkers so today, go out and get a bottle and fill your glass with your favorite. It’s winter, at least where I am, so I typically will go for a red wine like a nice Pinot Noir from Oregon or a Cabernet Franc from California. But for all you white wine drinkers, nothing says that you can’t enjoy a Sauvignon Blanc or a Chardonnay while sitting in front of a roaring fire. After all, this is the perfect day to pop open a bottle of red or white or rosé and enjoy a few sips with the rest of the country.
Drinking wine has been a part of human existence pretty much since the dawn of time. The history of this beverage is iconic and should be honored. So, each February 18th we celebrate drinking this sometimes dry, sometimes sweet, sometimes fruity, sometimes tannic, sometimes red, sometimes white, sometimes sparkling beverage by lifting a glass and cheering the day.
Pick a wine that you are partial to. Everyone has a different palate so choose something that will make you happy inside. Share your love of wine and invite some friends over for the ceremonial glass clinking. Then, get seriously creative and pair your wine with different foods and cheeses. A charcuterie board is always a fun option! Create a fun and festive day/evening that you’ll want to celebrate each year.

I’m going to open a lovely bottle of Cabernet Franc and lift my glass to all of you wine enthusiasts out there! Happy National Drink Wine Day!
