I’m an absolute fan of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. I love all the citrusy, tart, herbally, grassy aspects of the nectar from down under. New Zealand is known for its very specific acidity that brings forward its light, crisp body and flavors. Recently, I got my laptop, 2 bottles of wine, and 4 glasses and invited my tasting partner to join me for a fun tasting. We had the pleasure of participating in a personally curated tasting via zoom with Rachael Everitt, the Global Marketing Manager for Invivo & Co. We talked, we tasted, we discovered, we had a fun time. The tasting was with Invivo X SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker) Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé. So, of course I was thrilled! I’m not only a big fan of NZ wines but Sarah Jessica Parker? Come on, how could I ever say no! I’m a mega fan!

We opened the first bottle and poured the Sauvignon Blanc into our glasses. Doing a tasting via zoom is difficult when all you’d love to do is be right there in New Zealand yourself. But…it was still a great tasting adventure. So, here’s a bit about our experience with Invivo X SJP.

Invivo & Co. was launched in 2008 by 2 wine lovers, Tim and Rob. One an entrepreneur and one a winemaker. The “marriage” was apparently one made is heaven. Since their 2008 launch, they have won many accolades including 250 medals and many trophies for their incredible wines!

They believe in strong branding and doing things in a different way. Their customers recognize how innovative and unique the brand is and are loyal customers and investors. In 2014 they collaborated with Graham Norton to launch a Sauvignon Blanc and later even more wine varieties and a very successful line of gins from Ireland.

In 2019, Invivo & Co went to New York City and met with the fabulous Sarah Jessica Parker. This meeting produced a partnership that would not only be successful but is growing into an iconic collaboration. Sarah Jessica is a fan of Chardonnay. She loves the mouth-feel and texture. Invivo said that with her influence, they could create a Sauvignon Blanc that would satisfy all of the aspects that she loves in Chardonnay. So, she agreed to join them in creating this new and different Sauvignon Blanc. She was very much involved in the process from creation to tasting and blending. I think that’s so cool to be a part of the process of creating your own unique wine through the expertise of talented winemakers and grapes from one of the best wine regions in the world. Sarah Jessica was the perfect match! She, Tim, and Rob have created a delicious and different Sauvignon Blanc. It has received a prestigious place in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 World’s Best Wines.

Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc tasting notes:

The grapes come from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. The coastal influence of this area is apparent. Temperatures vary and that is perfect for growing this varietal of grape.

This Sauvignon Blanc has notes of tropical fruit, citrus zest of lemon and lime, some honeysuckle. Overall, it stays true to its varietal with a crisp brightness but there’s something different…it was aged in oak! So different and surprising for this wine! The aging gives it a fuller mouth-feel that adds complexity to an otherwise light, crisp wine. The initial reaction is bright citrus but shortly becomes a long, lovely finish! What an astonishing surprise!

After the Sauvignon Blanc was such a wonderful success, the Invivo team and Sarah Jessica decided to collaborate once again. This time it was a rosé with grapes from the South of France. The Invivo X, SJP Rosé is a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Grenache.

Invivo X, SJP Rosé tasting notes:

The grapes come from what’s known as the “Golden Triangle” in the South of France. The wine is created in the traditional way with a cork in the bottle (the Sauvignon Blanc has a twist top). The creation of this classic pink rosé went through a process of tasting, blending, and perfecting the wine that would become the Invivo X, SJP Rosé. The end result is a crisp, bright, fresh, fruit forward with strawberry, stone fruit, and a bit of lemon, rosé. I was a big fan of this one right away! Rosé can taste quite different even if it’s from the same area of France. This blend that was created by Tim, Rob, and Sarah Jessica is a winner. What an elegant wine! It has won many accolades including gold and silver medals.

What’s up next for the Invivo X, SJP team? They are creating some low calorie, low alcohol wines under the brand Invivo X, SJP Sevenly. These will be 7% alcohol and under 100 calories. But more about that in a future blog post after a tasting!

Summer is on its way…what’s better for a gathering with friends, a romantic dinner with your partner, or simply a solo evening alone on your patio then a bottle of Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé? Take your pick or try them both. They are fabulous!!
