Sometime when you are wandering through the Oregon wine country, take yourself on a road off the beaten path, leading up a hill and you will not only find a dramatic view but a very cool winery with some of the best wine in the region.

On my most recent journey to Oregon, I found myself turning off the main road and heading up a hill to Hawks View Winery. As I walked into the tasting room, I couldn’t help but notice the care and attention that they put into their recent renovations. The tasting room is beautiful! The bar is a mosaic of gray and white tile with longer tasting tables adorned with lavender centerpieces.

They have done a really fantastic job renovating the previous, smaller tasting room. This version is not only beautiful but inviting. There is a private tasting room and an outdoor seating area with views of Mount Hood and the vineyard. This picturesque location is not only lovely, but it definitely brings a calming influence. A glass of delicious wine, a view to die for…what could be better? Owner, Claudio Ponte sure knows the magical combination that combines tasting excellent wines, relaxing with friends, and admiring the breath-taking view.

Winemaker, Don Crank has created some of the most creative and interesting wines coming out of this region. The vineyard is 50 scenic acres that produce 5-7 tons per acre. Hawks View wines range from whites to rosés to reds and lovely sparklers as well. All their wines are very well balanced with lots of complexity. They specialize in Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Each bottle is a different expression of these grapes which makes them exciting wines to taste. Their fermentation room is lined with French oak barrels filled with their delightfully enjoyable wines.

The Pinot Noirs are old vine, reserve, barrel select, carbonic (tiny bubbles of CO2 play a role in fermentation that allows it to be drunk earlier without waiting for a long fermentation period).

The whites are created as reserve and barrel select Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Their rosé category includes White Pinot Noir and a sparkling Rosé from Pinot Noir grapes. Lastly, the white sparkling wine is Blanc de Noir, a fresh and bubbly wine for any special occasion or gathering.

As an added bonus, if you are as much of an olive oil lover as I am, you’ll simply love their branded olive oil!

The Hawks View winery only sells their wine on site or through their wine club. The wine club is the centerpiece of their marketing and promotion efforts. They look to create an atmosphere of happy members who love to drink their wine and experience all the benefits of wine membership. They are truly member-focused! Creating an excellent tasting room experience and communication with their members are top priorities. They want to make their winery a 2nd home where members can relax, enjoy their wine, and participate in some of the special members only events happening at the winery. They currently have over 2,000 members and growing. https://www.hawksviewwinery.com/Wine-Club/Join-Now

After tasting their wines, enjoying a lovely charcuterie board, and taking in the exquisite view, I was sold! Membership at this special place would be amazing! If you love all these perks along with some fantastic wine, stop in at the Hawks View winery in Sherwood, Oregon. It is definitely worth the visit! https://www.hawksviewwinery.com

Cheers!
